Last updated: October 2026. KM Role Play is built local-first. The short version: your characters and conversations stay on your PC. The only data that ever leaves your machine is what this page describes.

01 What stays on your device

1. The short version

  • Your characters, conversations, memories and settings are stored locally on your PC.
  • We do not run a cloud service that stores your role play data.
  • The app performs a license check when it activates or periodically, as described below.
  • If you connect an external AI, voice or embedding service, data you send to that service goes directly to its provider.
  • The website is a static site: no cookies, no trackers, no analytics.

2. Data stored locally

All role play content — character profiles, conversation history, memory embeddings, settings and model files — is stored in the app's data directory on your machine. Nothing in this category is uploaded to us, and we have no way to access it.

3. License validation

To verify that a copy of the software is licensed, KM Role Play contacts our license server during activation and periodic checks. The request contains only:

  • the email address the license is registered to, and a reference to your purchase or trial activation;
  • a non-reversible machine identifier used to bind the license to your device;
  • the license status being requested or confirmed.

The license server does not receive your characters, conversations, prompts, images or settings. It stores the minimum records needed to operate the license (email, activation status, device binding), which we keep only for as long as the license is active.

4. External AI services (optional)

KM Role Play can be configured to use external services for language models, text-to-speech or vector embeddings. This is always your choice. When enabled, content you send — such as conversation text, audio input, or prompts — is transmitted directly from your machine to the third-party service you selected, and is processed under that service's own privacy policy.

We do not proxy this traffic through our own servers and we do not store it. If you use only local models and local voice, this section does not apply to you at all.

5. Voice

With the built-in local voice engine, audio stays on your device. If you connect an external voice or speech service, the audio is sent to that provider in the same way described in section 4.

6. Diagnostics and support

KM Role Play does not send crash reports, usage statistics or telemetry automatically. If you contact support and choose to share log files or system information, we use that data only to investigate your issue and then delete it when no longer needed.

7. The website

This site is static and does not set cookies, run analytics, or track visitors. Downloads and purchases may be handled by third-party services (such as a payment processor or release host), which have their own privacy policies.

8. Children

KM Role Play is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Data retention

We do not store your role play data or your conversation content. License records are retained only while a license or trial is active, and are removed or anonymized when they are no longer needed.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change how data is handled, we will update this page and note the change at the top. Continued use of the software after a change means you accept the updated policy.
